Taeke Kooistra becomes Dutch Championship Frisian Draughts as well as Dutch Champion FRYSK!

The last round of the Dutch Championships Frisian Draughts brought some beautiful games again. In the early endgame Hein de Vries seemed to outwit Frans Kingma. The way to win was hidden however in a complicated continuation which was found by neither player and just one inaccuracy made De Vries’s advantage disappear again. Nevertheless, after a few more moves De Vries could win again and duly did so. Walinga seemed to have Van der Meer's flank under control and put pressure on the position with a centre piece. He missed an immediate win but recovered shortly later with a decisive combination. Groenveld had several chances in the endgame against Wiersma but was unable to capitalize them. The game ended in a draw. In the most important match of the day, Frederik Bos had to face Taeke Kooistra. Kooistra played a sharp and daring opening move that required a lot of computing. Taking this risk turned out well for him, however. A seemingly normal move by Bos was harshly punished and with an advantage of one piece, Kooistra brought home the bacon and won his first Dutch Championship of Frisian Draughts.
